Member Benefits

Membership Details

  • New members must apply for membership to the Club or be sponsored by another club member
  • All applicants must be approved by the club majority and will be accepted on a probationary period for 6 months
  • New members on probation may attend all club functions including the Annual General Meeting but cannot vote until after the probation period ends
  • The yearly membership fee for Paws Squad Canine Sports Club is $35 for a single membership and $50 for a family membership (definition of family: up to 4 members)
  • One vote per membership
  • Yearly Membership dues are payable by July 1

Expectations of Club Members

  • All Club members are expected to:
    • Help set-up, take-down and load/unload equipment at drop-ins, demos, fun matches and fundraising events
    • Attend membership meetings
    • Wear club clothing when attending trials, demos or fundraisers
    • Participate in the organization of and running of Club drop-ins or events
    • Help with equipment maintenance such as painting and repairs
  • Dogs & handlers must have been introduced to all agility equipment to attend drop-ins or demo events
  • Club members are expected to wear Club branded clothing and represent the Club appropriately while attending trials, demos and other public events. The Club will not tolerate:
    • Use of pain, fear or psychological intimidation of any kind in training or at events, including the use of severe verbal or physical reprimand causing the dog to cower or vocalize, or use of choke chains, prong or shock collars
    • Deprivation of a dogs' food or water to illicit performance
    • Discipline of a dog which is not their own
    • Dogs being left in vehicles during warm weather
    • Obvious overworking of a dog or running of a dog who is injured
    • Aggressive dogs
    • Dogs left unattended, loose or unsupervised where there is risk to the dog, other dogs, Club members or the public
    • Inappropriate behaviour or aggression physically or verbally by a Club member towards other members of the agility community, members of the Club or members of the public
  • Violation of any of the above expectations of members could result in the Club revoking membership privileges and/or in extreme cases, reporting actions to appropriate authorities
