The wrap up from the 2024 Hey You, Go Q Outside trial!
Well, we did it!
As has been the case for the last couple of years, the annual Paws Squad ‘Hey You! Go Q Outside!’ trial has magically managed to be held on the hottest weekend of the year. But we survived and even managed to have some laughs along the way. The misting station might have helped with that…it was a (literal) lifesaver at times! A copy of the trial results is attached.
Paws Squad, give yourselves a handful of gold stars. We worked our backsides off and everyone should be proud of themselves.
More thanks are in order: to our club president and super chef Elisha for the amazing tacos on Saturday and to Sue Kinney for her mouth watering pulled pork lunch on Sunday. (This is the second year for “Hannah’s Mom’s” lunch and if she’s not careful, this could become a habit.)
Thank you to those folks who aren’t in the club but were willing to step up and help out. Your efforts did not go unnoticed and we’re very grateful to you.
And a special thank you to our JUDGES! Chris Elias and Tracey Mallinson stood out in the blazing sun for two days straight so we could play with our dogs. You two are just plain awesome and we loved having you again this year.
Now for our (and your) many brags and congratulations! Sheena Staples and Tanya Verret were our 50/50 winners for the weekend, and Jessie Lawson was the grand prize winner of our Pawty Wagg-on full of swag.
Our brag board was busy this weekend…many ribbons handed out, many new titles, and many noteworthy firsts. As nice as the ribbons are, we also love to celebrate every accomplishment because it’s all about that connection with your four footed partner (or partner in crime.) So without further ado:
- Maisie and Sheena: first trial and first Q’s (there were many!)
- Stella and Bobbi-Jo: first Snooker Q, first Advanced Jumpers, and first successful Gamble
- Alfalfa and Chris (or Tracey, I can’t remember who was running him) first Masters Snooker Q and Advanced Games Dog of Canada
- Shade and Tracey: Bronze Award of Merit and Bronze Standard
- Hoax and Dorothy: Starters Games Dog of Canada
- Kaos and Jules: graduated from Advanced Jumpers
- Cami and Eliza: graduated from Advanced Gamblers
- Theo and Sheri: first Advanced Standard Q
- Rufus and his humans: first outdoor trial
- Finley and Savannah: hit his A-frame contact!
- …and Shadow did his best to remember all his contacts. He may have missed some but feels that Gwen is still happy with him because he tried very very hard.
A reminder to all that Big Air Photography was on site to “shoot” our dogs and the photos should be up by the time this is posted, so if you don’t already follow them, you can either look up Big Air Photography’s Facebook page or go directly to the website ( bigairphotography.shootproof.com. ) Lastly, if you aren’t watching us on Facebook, feel free to do just that so you don’t miss out on any future updates or trial announcements.
See all the trial results here.
Again, thank you all so very much for spending your valuable time with us and we hope you all had fun. Hopefully we will see you again at our next trial – stay tuned!
